Each stage tests a different combination of endurance, navigation, and terrain control — with rest, recovery, and community stops built into the route.

FOUTA DJALLON
5-Stage Adventure Rally
Endurance. Reliability. Safety. Culture. Unity.
The expedition includes the Fouta Djallon 5-Stage Adventure Rally as the signature Guinea centrepiece of the UK–West Africa Adventure Challenge. This is a controlled adventure and reliability challenge, not a speed race — designed around navigation, motorcycle reliability, team discipline, road-safety behaviour, and stage completion.
FIVE STAGES THROUGH THE HIGHLANDS
Entry into the Highlands
Riders leave the lowlands and begin the climb into the Fouta Djallon plateau, with the terrain shifting from paved roads to rougher highland tracks.
Mountain Roads
Technical mountain riding through winding highland roads, testing navigation and motorcycle control across changing gradients.
Valleys, Villages & Waterfalls
A cultural and scenic stage through highland villages and past some of Guinea's most striking waterfalls, with stops for community engagement.
Endurance & Reliability
The longest stage of the rally, testing rider stamina and motorcycle reliability over an extended highland distance.
Arrival in Mamou
The final stage brings riders down from the highlands into Mamou, marking the completion of the rally and a celebration with the local community.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE HIGHLANDS
Fouta Djallon is often called the "Switzerland of West Africa" — a highland region of waterfalls, mountain peaks, and villages that riders and supporters can experience alongside the rally.

A multi-waterfall canyon system near Pita with a natural viewpoint over the falls.

Chutes de Ditinn

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL GEAR
Riders taking on the Fouta Djallon stages need to come properly equipped. Full requirements will be issued to confirmed riders ahead of departure.
Come Prepared
The highland stages involve mixed terrain, altitude changes, and remote sections with limited support access. Riders who are not minimally prepared may be held back from a stage for their own safety and that of the group.
