Founder's Story

WHY THIS ADVENTURE

My name is Boubacar Barry, founder of UK2WestAfrica Adventure and creator of Project Jenny.

I was born on 3 May 1986 in Mamou, Guinea, a country blessed with extraordinary natural beauty, rich cultures, and some of the most spectacular landscapes in West Africa. Today, I live in the United Kingdom, where I am also a proud father of four.

Adventure has always been part of who I am. From an early age, I dreamed of exploring the world, pushing beyond my comfort zone, and proving that determination can overcome even the greatest challenges. Those dreams eventually led me to undertake one of the most ambitious journeys of my life: Project Jenny — a solo maritime expedition from the United Kingdom to Guinea aboard my 8.3-metre Regal Commodore 242.

The journey tested me in every possible way. I crossed the English Channel, the Bay of Biscay, and the Atlantic coastline of Europe and West Africa, overcoming mechanical failures, difficult weather, emergency repairs, rescue operations, and countless logistical challenges. Every mile strengthened my belief that perseverance, careful planning, and resilience can turn extraordinary ideas into reality.

That experience inspired me to create UK2WestAfrica Adventure.

My vision is to build more than an expedition. I want to create an international adventure community that connects people through exploration, culture, and responsible travel. Through motorcycle expeditions, marine adventures, and community projects, I hope to showcase the beauty of West Africa while creating opportunities for tourism, business, conservation, and cultural exchange.

At the heart of this vision is a commitment to giving back. Through our Ride Safe Africa Initiative, we aim to promote road safety awareness, improve rider education, support local communities, and inspire the next generation of adventurers across Africa.

This journey is about far more than reaching a destination. It is about inspiring others to believe that with courage, determination, and the right mindset, no dream is too ambitious.

Thank you for being part of this adventure.
